Identification

Males are lavender-blue with black on the abdomen and thorax; females are tan, gray or bluish and much less saturated.

Adult males are pale bluish-violet with black thoracic and abdominal pattern; females are tan, gray or less saturated blue. Amethyst and Aztec Dancers can share violet tones, so photograph both the shoulder pattern and terminal segments.

The checklist places Lavender Dancer from California, Utah and Texas south to Sinaloa and Coahuila.

California, Utah and Texas are explicit endpoints, with Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada records connecting parts of the western range. Colorado is not supported by the checklist boundary.
